3. Things I Learned:
a.That it was in the 1800's that modern psychology was developed, to study the human mind and behavior, through Russian biologist Ivan Pavlov's experiments, and Sigmung Frued's method of psychoanalysis.
b. That Africa had been divided up in to many colonies, belonging to outside countriess such as Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, with only one independent state, Ethiopia.
c.That Muhammad Ali's efforts to modernize Egypt were continued by his grandson Isma'il who supported the construction of the Suez Canal, which today handle's almost 10% of the world's goods.
2. Things I Found Interesting:
a. I found it Interesting that Ethiopia was the only African nation to resist the Europeans and mantain their nation's independence, through Menelik II's efforts to play the Italians, French, and British against each other.
b. Another thing I found interesting was that it was not until the mid 1800's that germs were discovered, and that they caused diseases. Now it is common for people to carry around their own personal hand sanitizer for that reason, but 150 years ago they just dicovered that there was bacteria, and that it coulod be dangerous.
1. Question I Still Have:
After reading and reviewing these chapters a question I have is, before the discovery of bacteria and diseases, how did they treat people with those diseases or was it just luck of the drawl if your body would be able to fight of the bacteria, at this point was medicine just full of everyone inferences with formal and standard way of treating patients.
